Job Description
The CG Supervisor's main mission is to lead, alongside the VFX Supervisor and 2D Supervisors, all aspects of a show's production. They brings technical expertise in collaboration with the department heads, drive the development of methodologies, and supervise the execution of 3D work across all departments.
Present during client calls, CG Supervisors always keep the client's vision in mind and, drawing on both technical and artistic expertise, are able to provide the best solutions while taking into account the various constraints of the project or the studio.
Key Responsibilities
Establish methodologies and handle project bidding/estimations with the VFX Supervisor, the production team, and in consultions with HoDs when needed;
Implement the manufacturing and production standards defined by the HoDs;
Plan and maintain the rendering/compositing strategy with the Compositing Supervisor(s), in collaboration with the Lighting Supervisor(s)/Lead(s);
Define the manufacturing tasks for each asset/plan with the production team;
Ensure follow-up and compliance of manufacturing tasks with studio standards;
Provide technical support to the CG teams on the project;
Verify the technical compliance of all data exchanged between departments on the project (QC review/approval);
If necessary, brief artists individually on each asset/shot of the project, following group kick-offs by the VFX Supervisors;
Understand and represent the vision of the VFX Supervisor and the client in their absence;
Address the creative direction of the VFX Supervisor with production solutions aligned with the teams' technical capabilities and the project budget;
Report technical, strategic and organizational problems or solutions to the HoDs.
Required Skills
Previous experience in a supervisory role;
Glaobal understanding of all technical and creative aspects of the VFX production and manufacturing process;
Proficiency with 3D software environments;
Familiarity with production tracking tools;
Strong knowledge of compositing principles and 2D image creation;
Ability to communicate in French and English both spoken and written.
