Currently in a growth phase, The Yard VFX is evolving and transforming. Large-scale international projects drive us to strengthen our teams. Immersed in this dynamic environment and surrounded by passionate individuals, we are looking for a Lead Lighting Technical Director.

Job Description

At the project level, the Lighting Lead is responsible for ensuring compliance with the studio’s quality, presentation, and workflow standards established by the Lighting HODs and Supervisors.

You will make a significant contribution to the creation of visual elements for the projects assigned to you.

Your expertise in lighting, look development, and compositing integration, combined with your experience working within a team environment, will be essential to the successful delivery of our productions.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish project-specific tools and workflows in accordance with studio standards, in close; collaboration with the Compositing Supervisors, Leads, and the project's CG Supervisor;

• Break down shots and identify key shots for each sequence within the project;

• Define and assign lighting tasks across the team;

• Review the work of the lighting team and provide feedback;

• Monitor project schedules in collaboration with the project's Line Producer;

• Support the professional development and growth of lighting artists throughout the project;

• Implement and maintain an appropriate level of render optimization according to project requirements;

• Ensure, together with the CG Supervisor, the successful delivery of the project by the Lighting team.
  

Required Skills

• Proven mastery of the core principles of VFX lighting, integration, and color calibration;

• Excellent organizational and planning skills;

• Strong communication skills in both French and English (written and spoken);

• Ability to lead and motivate a team;

• Ability to delegate effectively and escalate issues outside the scope of the role;

• Ability to manage stress and adapt to changing priorities and unforeseen challenges.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a Lead role (sequence or project level) on a CGI production;

• Experience working on at least five VFX projects within a Lighting department.
